The Collection of
Hungarian Applied Folk Art was opened in the old brewery in Kecskemét
in 1984. Permanent and temporary exhibitions are awaiting the visitors
interested in the culture of folk instrument creation and of
craftsmanship, in the more than 200 year old building.
The imposing exhibition presents all the five major fields of applied folk art: carving, pottery, embroidery, weaving and other minor folk art crafts.
In the workshop of the collection you can learn some of the
easier craftsmanship techniques using natural
material.
In the ambiental inner court you can see tradition reviving
programmes upon request, such as presentation of different crafts,
folk music, samples of dishes made in the
oven.
